Why Gary Payton sounds crazy talkin' about this Soft Era! "Penny Loafers"

"I'd be talkin' crazy to you too bruh if I were playin' now!"

Dr. Suess gave it to us like this, "I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities. Then George Santayana, hit boyz in the dome when he spit, "Nonsense is so good only because common sense is so limited."

Well playas...common sense completely goes on vacation when old school cats talk about ANYTHING new school bruh! Especially, when it comes to sports! How do I know? Because I'm old school and I've lived durin' both eras. So when I see duns like Gary Payton get on Twitter and make one of the dumbest statement ever made I've got to be the voice of reason. This cat wrote with his own fingers, "I could never play basketball in this soft era. All of my contract money would go toward fines. Lol" The crazy thing about is that 99.9999% of folks that saw it and liked it or retweeted it didn't even actually think about what ole boy said. They just liked it because it sounded good. 

Well let's keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! If Gary Payton were playin' in this "soft era" he wouldn't know any better! There would be nothin' for him to compare it to. So he would be playin' the same basketball that everybody else is playin' in this era! When he played it was legal hand check, boyz could literally fight on the floor and not get ejected. Duns could cold cock a boy goin' to the rack and still be in the game the next minute. Have you seen some of the foolishness that boyz could do back 20 or 30 years ago? It was NUTS!!! It was darn near MMA on the basketball court. 

So if "The Glove" had never played durin' that era he wouldn't know any better! Sure, he'd have the history of the game to fall back on but he'd have no experience as player in that era to compare it to. So to make the statement that "I couldn't play durin' this soft era" is ignorant. That's like sayin' that "If I were a teenager right now I wouldn't use a cell phone or social media! Or "If I were comin' up now I wouldn't wear these silly fashions that all of the kids are wearin' now. I wouldn't wear the skinny jeans and weird ridiculous lookin' Russell Westbrook shirts these duns wear today. I wouldn't walk around with my hair nappy and twisted by the sponge brushes." 

It's like sayin', "I would actually wear some penny loafers, baggys and argyle socks instead." Naw playa, it's like sayin', "I'd show up rockin' some Cross Colors or FUBU gear!" Why? Because you wouldn't know anything about what I just said. It sounds stupid to even say but it's the same thing! 

Okay, all of you old school playas still don't get it huh? That's like watchin' footage or movies about slavery, Jim Crow or the Civil rights Movement and sayin' if you're black that "I wouldn't have followed the laws of that time." Why? Because your mentality today is completely different than it would have been in 1832, 1932 or 1962. To say, "I wouldn't have sat in the back of the bus in 1932 or ate in the alley on a milk crate at a restaurant while travelin' by Greyhound at a rest stop" is crazy. Yes you would have. The laws were the laws and you would have followed them or been locked up, lynched or killed for not obeyin' them as foolish as they were. Thank God for people like MLK etc. 

So why is it that when these old school players say that they'd play the game the same way they played it 25 or 30 years ago today if they played today? Boyz don't blink at how stupid it actually sounds. 

If "The Glove" were playin' today he'd be playin' by the same freakin' rules that he's grown up with. He'd be 18 to 35 years old or so and the rules would be the freakin' rules. Stop soundin' crazy thinkin' you would be playin' like some cat in 1992. 

So the next time one of these duns jump out of the birthday cake to tell boyz about what he would do if he were playin' today. Tell him to shut up and sit  his "A" down somewhere because you ain't. Stop me when I start lyin'!
