In my Maximus voice, "Are you not entertained?" |
Well playas…the big homie Greg Popovich came through Indianapolis and caught excellence on Monday night as he swooped up his 1,000th win after his boyz trailed by 14 points enterin’ the fourth quarter. When it was all said and done Pop and Co. walked out of the joint with a 95-93 win. In ghetto fabulous terms, ole boy is now sittin’ on a stack!
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Pop walked off of the floor all calm and cool like it was no big deal but you already know that in his mind he was doin’ the George Jefferson walk to the elevator. Swingin’ his arms like, “I know y'all just saw that right?” But Pop is gonna take it in stride and keep it movin’!
With both teams playin’ the second night of a back to back, they both came out swingin’! There wasn’t any residual rust from the night before and both teams were aggressive with the rock. As a matter of fact, “rat ta-tat-tat, I never hesitate to put a fool on his back.” My bad dawg that Snoop popped in my head. But as a matter of fact, the Pacers statistically played a better game. Yeah, they shot 40.9 percent vs. 41.6 percent from the field but stung them from behind the arc at 38 percent vs. 24 percent. They beat them on the boards with 50 rebounds vs. 42, moved the ball better with 24 team dimes vs. 18 and hit 100 percent of their free throws vs. 88 percent.
So you can understand why Frank Vogel and the fellas weren’t tryin’ to holla at too many cats after that joint. They played a great ball game for three quarters and simply ran out of gas playboy. They were outscored 30-14 in the final period and the Spurs ball movement caught a boy sleepin’ on the final 18-footer made by Marco Belineli with 2.1 seconds left. I’m not sure what cats were thinkin’ but everybody and their momma’s momma and their baby’s momma’s momma, Miss Jackson, knew that they were gonna move that joint around and get a boy in the corner wide open for the shot. It’s typical San Antonio Spurs basketball playa. Move the ball around and like magic a dun is standin’ there smokin’ a square with his feet kicked up waitin’ for it like Huggy Lowdown.
Even with the stats stacked against Pop and Co. they were in a position to win the game at the end and then all it comes down to is knockin’ down the shot. That’s what makes Pop such a great coach. He put his guys in a position to win even after gettin’ handled in the third quarter 34-18. Big props to a boy for gettin’ a G and bein’ a G! Now he can just continue to coach the game he loves.
Now for all of you duns in the media that can’t seem to figure out how to interview Pop and get REAL answers let me show you how it’s done playa. The key is to ask intelligent questions playboy. I’ve been in sales for 25 years and in order to eat you have to ask questions that actually have answers to them. When you ask intelligent questions you get intelligent answers. Take notes pimpin’!
In the famous words of Steve Jobs, “Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected.” If you’re goin’ to be a journalist first learn the art of askin’ questions playa! Up next New Orleans and stop me when I start lyin’!
