Control Freak

Say what? I'm in control bruh! Let me lose that way I wanna lose!

Dwight D Eisenhower once said, “Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it.” Nelson Mandela gave it to us like this, “It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.” Old Mr. Willie that owns the car wash in the hood just says, “Get out of the way and let these young boyz do their jobs, especially if you’re paying them to do it.”

Well Michael Jordan needs to listen to these guys and stop being the Jerry Jones of the NBA by being an absolute control freak! That formula has proven over time that it doesn’t work. I thought Jerry was bad by being the Owner, President and General Manager of the Cowboys but I think Jordan may be just as bad as just the owner!

The Charlotte Bobcats finished the season 7-59 last year and with the worst winning percentage in the history of the NBA at .106! Now these duns are 7-21 to start this season! How is that even possible?  It’s possible when Michael Jordan owns the team. The same cat that wants to control everything and he’s constantly in the way. This dun sits on the end of the bench and constantly badgers players instead of sitting in the luxury box like a normal owner does.

I’ve never seen anything like it. The owner of the team sitting on the bench ripping players as they walk off of the floor? I can remember how annoyed Gerald Wallace looked a couple of years ago during a game in the playoffs when Jordan was in his ear the entire night. I mean who’s coaching? Or better yet, who do I listen to if I’m a player on that team? So I completely understand why Larry Brown eventually quit. He had no authority. It was like your old man telling you it was OK to go to the party but your mom telling you to stay at home. Who's in charge?

All of that competitiveness was an asset to him as a player but as an owner, it’s a liability. When you hire people to do a job you have to trust them to do what you’ve brought them in to do. It’s unacceptable to then sit on the bench and bother the players during the game. Both the players and the coaches are put in a bad position because Jordan writes the checks! You can’t tell ole boy to shut up and get out of the way because he’s the freaking owner for crying out loud!

He's always been a jerk but no one ever wanted to say it because he was the best player in the league. There was simply nothing that anyone could do about it. Remember when he was with the Bulls and he jumped on Steve Kerr at practice? I can appreciate that kind of intensity because it brought the best out of him.

However, it doesn’t do anything for him when he’s in charge of a sports franchise because that turns his subordinates away. Boyz down even want to go to work in the morning because he’s in the freaking gym with some hip hugger old school shorts on ready for practice.  They weren’t losing because Paul Silas couldn’t coach. It was too many distractions within the organization and going out and getting a new coach won’t solve the problem.

Speaking of a new coach! Mike hired a puppet in 32 year old Mike Dunlap, who has never even been a head coach before not even in college. He was the assistant coach at St John’s last year! That’s a mid-major school homeboy!  So you know Mike will practically be coaching the team this year. He’ll be sitting on this dun’s lap during the games. Hilarious!!  They’ll probably be worse this year than last year. Why? Because he doesn’t trust folks to do their jobs!
