Grown Folk Conversation!

"Strictly for Mature Adults!"

The BCS is the system that college football has adopted for the sole purpose of pitting #1 vs. #2 to determine the college football national champ since 1998. The reason that it was put into place was because in the past the bowl games had automatic tie-ins with conferences. For example, #1 LSU would have to play in the Sugar Bowl because the SEC was tied to it and #2 Michigan would play in the Rose Bowl because of their agreement with it. So therefore, they wouldn't get to play each other. If both teams won their respective bowl game there would be the likely scenario that we'd have split national champs. The AP would name their champ and the Coaches would name their champ and every now and then they wouldn't agree.

It's crazy to me that when the media doesn't like the national title match up they change the rules to confuse all of the naive fans out there. In 2003 #1LSU beat #2Oklahoma for the BCS National Title in New Orleans. I know because I was there and saw it with my own eyes. However, the Associated Press (AP) wanted #3USC to play in that ball game. Since that didn't happen and UCS won the Rose Bowl they bucked the system and named the Trojans their National Champ! What! The AP was part of the BCS formula at the time to determine who played in the freaking title game. Their team didn't get in so they took their ball and went to the crib.

Now they're trying to do the same thing again. I heard Lee Corso start that foolishness during College GameDay on Monday by saying that if Oklahoma State beat Stanford and Bama beats LSU they could get a piece of the national title. Well guess what? The Pokes beat Andrew Luck and the Stanford Cardinal in the Fiesta Bowl in OT 41-38.

Now a ground swell of writers out there is starting to meddle in what Big Momma used to say, grown folk business. Listen up folks, the national championship is Monday January 9th in New Orleans bruh! The winner of that game is the king of college football in 2011! Don't try to make something up because you didn't want to see the best two teams in college football play. That’s sounds like a U problem!

For the past month all I've heard was people saying that they didn't want to see a rematch of LSU/Alabama because they've seen it already. Bruh, it doesn't matter what you WANT to see. It's about who the best two teams in the country are and it's very clear that LSU and Alabama sit on top of the food chain.

Anybody trying to jump on the Oklahoma State bandwagon I've got two words for you, Iowa State! They lost to the Cyclones bruh! LSU is undefeated in the best conference in football right now and Bama lost in overtime to that team! Are you kidding me? So you're suggesting that the Pokes jump LSU and Bama for the AP title which was originally part of the BCS equation until their feelings got hurt.

I don't care how you try to slice that pie if you eat it all you’ll still gain weight! The best two teams are playing in the French Quarter on Monday and the winner takes all. If the AP pulls a jack move on the SEC heavy weights it would be terrible. Also if Mike Gundy and his staff had any class they would step up and say that they stand behind the system. Because if they had been #2 at the end of the season they would have said that they stood behind it. You can't only be for the system when it's favorable to you and not be down with it when you're left out. Here's what I'm trippin' on! They would be in the BCS Title Game if they hadn't lost Iowa freaking State!!!!

I lost all respect for Pete Carolle when the AP named his team national champ in 2003 and he accepted it. Like I said bruh you can't ride with the system all year then jump off when you don't like the results. I thought that Alabama out played the Tigers in the first match up back on November 5th and wanted to see them avenge that loss. However, with all of this foolishness in the media. I want to see LSU destroy Bama for the sake of college football and not having to argue about who won the title that I saw determined in New Orleans.

I’d like to see LSU go undefeated so that the media can't meddle in grown folks business. Remember when your parents would be talking and you thought you could join in the conversation? As soon as you opened your mouth they would say, "Shut up and get out of grown folks conversation! Kids are supposed to be seen and not heard!"

  1. Great article! It is amazing that OSU even thinks they belong. You lost to IOWA STATE! I might buy the argument if Alabama had lost to some unranked or lower ranked team but they lost to LSU #1. It is unclear to me how a 2nd ranked team can loose to the #1 ranked team in a close game and then drop in the rankings. If these folks doing the rankings are suppose to be such experts shouldn't #1 beat #2 in a close game anyway? So if that is the case LSU and Alabama are still the best 2 teams in the country. OSU is a good team but you lost to again IOWA STATE! Go to your room and watch the grown ups play through the crack in the door!
