That's Life! (Autographs may pimp slap Manziel's career)

"Hey, you know I can start charging boyz for this?"

Albert Einstein once said, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” C.S. Lewis, the British novelist and poet, gave it to us like this, “Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it’s thinking of yourself less.” Then Bill Gates came through the barber shop and told boyz this, “Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can’t lose.”

Well, here we go again with another example of ole Johnny Football not thinking again! The NCAA has launched an investigation into whether Manziel was paid for signing hundreds of autographs on photos and sports memorabilia in January. According to “Outside the Lines” two sources say that ole boy agreed to sign memorabilia in exchange for a five-figure flat fee when he was in Miami for the BCS National Championship game.

These cats say that they witnessed Manziel signing autographs but didn’t actually see the money exchange hands. Three duns said that Johnny signed photographs, footballs, mini helmets and other items at the request of some cat named Drew Tieman, an autograph broker.

See this is what happens when you grow up in the suburbs and then try to move with gangstas. You fail to realize that everybody has a price. The duns that are snitching never got the bread that they were promised. Otherwise, they wouldn't be singing like Luther right now.

Put the brakes on right there playboy! Didn’t Einstein just say, we cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them? Did this dun not learn anything from the whole Ohio State tattoo scandal? Or when those duns were selling their own jerseys and got busted? Now do I believe that a boy should be able to sell what belongs to him? Absolutely! However, the head pimp doesn't see it that way. So what I think is irrelevant.

On some real talk, I can understand why Terrelle Pryor and his boyz took a chance as crazy as it was because they were broke. Folks will do anything just to have some bread in their pockets especially when they feel they’re being taken advantage of. So I get it. However, Johnny Football’s family is loaded! He comes from oil money and is pushing a Benz on campus. Was Pryor just as wrong as Johnny? Absolutely! But the need isn’t the same so why take the chance?

Let me break it down where you can smell playboy. I can completely understand a crackhead breaking into my house as opposed to a completely sane and healthy individual climbing through the window just because he felt he was entitled to do so. I’m more apt to beat the breaks off of the sane cat than the creakhead just because he’s doing it for the sake of doing it. They both committed breaking and entering but one of them had no reason to climb through the window in the first place. At least the crackhead was stealing to get high.

The report goes on to say that online verifications show a single lot of 999 signed photos that were numbered sequentially. For all you slow cats out there, that means in numerical order! In other words, this dun sat down and signed 1,2,3,4….. 'til he got to 999! Forget hundreds like these boyz are reporting, this cat signed thousands of pieces of merchandise if that’s the case because you know he didn’t stop with just one broker. The bread was too easy and the high was too good to stop at just one. It's like Jay's potato chips, you can't eat just one. I’m talkin’ but y’all ain’t listenin’!

The problem is, if all of this is true his college career is over as quick as it started. So who do we blame? Johnny, Texas A&M, his parents or all of the above? All of the above pimpin’! Johnny’s parents, for allowing this dun to do whatever he wanted to do just cuz. Johnny, for not thinking about anybody other than himself at all times and A&M for being greedy. They let ole boy run loose like a wild man from the time he won the Heisman until know. When he was doing the late night TV shows, throwing out the first pitches at major league baseball games, sitting court side at NBA games even though he could afford it. It was a bad move because you already knew who this dun was. He was a spoiled rich kid that couldn’t handle the attention.

Any time you go out and hire personal body guards and your parents pay for them, it’s a problem. Like I said last week in the Hot Joint entitled, “"The Dragon." If you’re the quarterback at any school in America why do you NEED body guards? You’ve got 100 of them playboy that are free.

A&M sat in the cut and watched this kid drown because it was great marketing for Aggieland. They recently auctioned off 6 helmets signed by Manziel and John David Crow the only other Heisman Trophy winner the school has had for $81,000. They recently sold a table for 6 at the team’s Kickoff Dinner that will be held at the end of the month that both Manziel and Crow will sit at for 20 stacks! Pimp juice playa!

So excuse Johnny for trying to get in on the money too. He’s not as crazy as boyz think. He can at least see that A&M and the NCAA is pimpin’ him too. My only problem is, he wasn’t thinking about how his actions would affect is team and now his college career hangs in the balance. Ain’t no way A&M puts him on the field while this investigation is going on because all wins will be forfeited if he’s proven to be dirty but at the same time they'll still be selling his image.

Whatever the dull broker paid him wasn’t worth ending his college career. The rules are the rules and as wack as they may be, you gotta follow them. That’s life playboy. We all are being pimped in some form or fashion and until you’re in a position to call the shots you gotta deal with it. Stop me when I start lyin’ playboy!

  1. Today we are seeing more defensive backs stripping the football from receivers.
It has become a football skill unto itself, requiring corners, line backers and safeties training and practicing drills to hone their ball stripping football Skills.
