"USED TO BE"

Pippen choking Laimbeer in mid-air bruh!

The 16th century English poet, William Wordsworth, was genius with this joint, “Life is divided into three terms – that which was, which is, and which will be. Let us learn from the past to profit by the present, and from the present to live better in the future.” Buddha always brought the heat by saying, “Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.” Mr. Willie down at the car wash just kept it real for boyz by saying, “Stop trippin’ on yesterday and deal with this Cadillac comin’ your way and don’t leave any streaks on it.”

The NBA has upgraded one of Taj Gibson’s fouls on LeBron to a flagrant. However, it wasn’t the joint where he clotheslined ole boy by catching him around the neck and shoulder in the fourth quarter. LeBron actually complained about that joint but to no avail.

Now I’ve sat in the cut for the past week and listened to boyz talk about how soft LeBron is and all NBA players now for that matter because they can’t take a hard foul like players did in the past. What blows me away is that cats will always bring up what boyz used to do in the league and how rough the league used to be. The key words there pimpin’ are “USED TO BE!”

What duns used to be able to do is no longer legal nor acceptable to do. Cats used to be able to fight all of the time in the NBA too. Now you don’t see that at all. Why? Because the consequences are much greater for acting a fool now. Players are making more money than ever before and to get suspended for some foolishness is stupid.

Think about the amount of endorsements cats have now and what getting into a fight can do to their reputation on or off of the court, therefore, causing them to lose big money. Just because a stud complains about a foul doesn’t make him soft, it makes him smart enough to know what the freaking rules are. He can’t just fight a boy like Barkley used to do and handle it on the court like the Pistons used to do because it’s no longer acceptable to do that. You WILL be suspended and you WILL lose ridiculous money for that now.

Kids used to be able to fight at school all of time when I was coming up. Now if you fight regardless as to whether you were attacked or were the aggressor you’ll get suspended. Does it make a kid soft because he does everything he can to avoid the confrontation? No! It makes him smart enough to know what the rules are and how they will affect him.

Big Momma used to make boyz go outside and get a switch so that she could beat the brakes off of them. Those joints used to wep a boy up and you still had to go school. If she does that now she's going to jail! Times have changed and so have the rules in professional sports! So why call it a flagrant if you're not going to enforce the foul?

The major problem here is social media. See back in the day the only people that had a platform to speak were people that had earned the right to be heard because they were critical thinkers or they had paid their dues coming up in the world of journalism etc. Now anyone with an email address regardless of their educational background or lack thereof can get on Facebook or Twitter and voice their opinion.

The problem with that is that most duns don’t think before they speak. So in essence, you’ve got a bunch of dumb mugs out here repeating ignorant information. Ninety percent of cats out here commenting about sports have no clue as to what they’re talking about and have no understanding of the history of the game.

Barkley & Shaq squabin'!
Would it make Adrian Peterson soft if he complained that Ray Lewis clotheslined him like Dick Butkus used to do boyz in the 1960’s? Would it make Larry Fitzgerald soft if he complained that Ndamukon Suh gouged his eyes at the bottom of the pile like Deacon Jones used to do? Would it make Kevin Durant soft if he complained that Tyson Chandler punched him in the throat when he came into the lane like Bill Laimbeer used to do? No! It would make them reasonable thinking human beings that simply understand what’s acceptable in today’s game.

Would it make Tom Brady soft if he complained that Nnamdi Asomugha had on stickum and intercepted him 3 or 4 times in one game like Lester Hayes used to do? Would it make offensive tackle, Jake Long, soft if he complained that defensive tackle, Vince Wilfork, tried to take his knees out like Too Tall Jones used to do? Would it make Chris Paul soft if "Buster Brown" Dwight Howard body slammed him going to the rack? Well, yes! That was a bad example bruh, my bad, but you understand where I was going with the other joints. Right? Now the only cat that you can call soft is Derrick Rose because he's healthy and is scared to play as I explained to boyz in the Hot Joint entitled, "Drugstore Cotton Candy."

So in my Mr. Willie voice, “What boyz did in the past ain’t relevant!” You’re playing today’s game with today’s rules. Not today’s game with yesterday’s rules. It’s ignorant to even suggest that cats should even except yesterday's foolishness in today's game. That’s why you can’t listen to everybody talking playboy because MOST people are stupid! Just listen to boyz talk today.

One out of every three conversations that you have this morning will be ignorant because you’re talking to someone that is repeating something that they heard from some other idiot without validating the information; instead of telling you something they thought of or thought through.  Stop me when I start lyin’ playboy!
