"Shake Them Hater's Off" Cam Wins in a landslide!

Cam Newton received 729 first-place votes to win the 76th Heisman Trophy.
Cam Newton wins the Heisman Trophy and leaves no doubt that he’s the most outstanding player in college football. After a huge week of winning awards, this is a culmination of events. On Thursday he won the Davey O’Brien award for the national quarterback of the year , the Maxwell for the most outstanding player and the Walter Camp for the player of the year. However, he was left off of Football Writers Association of America's All-America team. What a joke! These guys clearly voted in protest and not with common sense.

How can you look at the college football season and not vote this guy as the All-American quarterback? There are many people that feel that way. However, I’ve always been told that the cream always rises to the top. In this situation the cream ended up in it‘s proper place. Congratulations to Cam Newton and the Auburn Tigers for winning it’s first Heisman since Bo Jackson won it in 1985. All of the hater’s are upset that this kid has taken home the most coveted award in sports.

I can hear them saying now, “He’s guilty because his dad has been found guilty during the investigation. He had to have known what his dad was doing.” It’s completely plausible that Cam didn’t know what his dad was up to. He’s a kid and as a child he clearly may not have known about the conversations that occurred on his behalf. We didn’t always know what our parents were doing and we didn’t ask either. I can say that in African-American homes a kid wouldn’t dare question his parents behavior whether it was right or wrong. Cam has said on many occasions that his father was making the decision as to where he would play. He thought that he was going to Mississippi State and at the last minute it became Auburn. As a child in that situation he didn’t ask any questions.

There are kids all over this country that are told where to go to school by their parents and no questions are asked. So I completely believe that this kid didn’t know about the pay for play scheme. I’m just glad that he wasn’t denied the opportunity to win this award because of the actions of his father. I hope that other parents would learn from this situation, that their irresponsibility can curse their children’s future. Allow your kid to make those decisions and live with it. What’s your opinion?
