"Control Freak sitting on the bench!" |
Let’s face it. Michael Jordan is a control freak and as an owner of a professional sports franchise that’s a problem. He's the Jerry Jones of the NBA and I’m being nice. This guy is even worse because he sits on the end of the bench and constantly badgers the players. I’ve never seen anything like it. The owner of the team sitting on the bench ripping players as they walk off of the floor? I can remember how annoyed Gerald Wallace looked last year during a game in the playoffs when Jordan was in his ear the entire night. I mean who’s coaching? Or better yet, who do I listen to if I’m a player on that team? So I completely understand why Larry Brown quit. He had no authority. It was like your old man telling you it was OK to go to the party but your mom telling you to stay at home. Who's in charge?
All of that competitiveness was an asset to him as a player but as an owner, it’s a liability. When you hire people to do a job you have to trust folks to do what you’ve brought them in to do. It’s unacceptable to then sit on the bench and bother the players during the game. Both the players and the coaches are put in a bad position because Jordan writes the checks! You can’t tell him to shut up and get out of the way because he’s the freaking owner for crying out loud!
He's always been a jerk but no one ever wanted to say it because he was the best player in the league. There was simply nothing that anyone could do about it. Remember when he was with the Bulls and he jumped on Steve Kerr at practice? I can appreciate that kind of intensity because it brought the best out of him.
However, it doesn’t do anything for him when he’s in charge of a sports franchise because that turns his subordinates away. They weren’t losing because Larry Brown couldn’t coach. It was too many distractions within the organization and finding a new coach won’t solve the problem. Michael Jordan is the problem just like Jerry Jones. These two guys will never win because they don't trust their players or coaches. Get out of the way bruh!
