Why black women hatin' on Gabby are simply miserable with themselves! "Crabs"

Gary Allen once said, "You can be the moon and still be jealous of the stars." William Penn gave it to us like this, "The jealous are troublesome to others, but a torment to themselves." Then Robert Heinlein put it where the goats could get it when he spit, "A competent and self-confident person is incapable of jealousy in anything. Jealousy is invariably a symptom of neurotic insecurity." 

Well playas...for the black women on social media tearin' down our young sista, Gabby Douglas, because her hair, in their minds doesn't pass the sniff test, are the very duns Heinlein was talkin' about. Durin' this entire Olympic Games black women have been blastin' this young woman about her hair not bein' done and I've sat in the cut and watched this foolishness go on. 

But let me keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Gabby Douglas is more successful than 99.9999% of the duns tryin' to ridicule her. Oh I'm lyin' bruh? How many of you duns talkin' about her have become the best in the world at what you do. How many of you broken hearted chicks have signed a $90 million endorsement deal with Kelloggs Cereal or have your own Barbie Doll? According to the New York Post, industry experts said after the 2012 Olympics that she could have over 30 additional contracts over the next decade at more than $2.4 million each. For y'all that’s checkin’ that's more than $150 million dollars over the next ten years but you're hatin' on her hair. 

Durin' the 2012 Olympics in London Gabby became the first black woman to win a gold medal in the gymnastics All-Around! That means that NOBODY in the world was better than her! She was just on the team last week that won the Gold Medal! That means that she was on the team that is the best in the world!!!

But all some of these jealous black women can do it criticize her on her hair not bein' done? Really bruh? Now let me ask you a serious question? Have you paid attention to what she does for a freakin' livin'? Now I know that I just did a crazy Hot Joint a few days ago entitled "Don't Sleep" applaudin' the accomplishments of black women not only in the world of sports but in their ability to become the most educated group of people in the United States. Pop the link and check it out. 

However, if they are the most educated group then they SHOULD understand that if a woman makes a livin' doin' gymnastics which requires runnin', jumpin', flippin', and sweatin' then her hair can't be in the way. If she is a black woman her hair has to be jelled and pinned down so that she can do her freakin' job. So why on earth would a group of people that are most educated in this country be so ignorant? Because jealousy supersedes common sense. 

Now I'm not speakin' to ALL black women. I'm only speakin' to the fools tearin' down a woman that represents them. The fact that she's even on the Olympic team as a gymnast gives another black girl in America the inspiration and opportunity to do the same thing or whatever she dreams of becomin'. There would be no Simone Biles if there was no Gabby Douglas. Simone is killin' these boyz in this Olympic Games but all of you clowns forgot that she was standin' on Gabby's shoulders. Simone Manuel, the black woman that just won the 100 meter freestyle and Michelle Carter, the black woman that just won the shot put are standin' on Gabby's shoulders!!! 

Sure, they don't participate in gymnastics but they participate in nontraditional events for black women. In other words, they don't run track. Therefore, by seein' Gabby win the Gold in 2012 and seein' Venus and Serena do their thing is something that black women don't traditionally do that gives people hope to be able to try other things. Gabby is a pioneer and she should be respected whether you think her hair is done or not. Stop bein' a crab in a bucket and get your own hustle. Stop me when I start lyin'!

"They ain't laughing at my hair now momma!"

Several months ago I wrote a crazy Hot Joint entitled "Class? What Class?" that explained to boyz why it made no sense for Kentucky's Anthony Davis to be sitting in someone's classroom. He was one of 5 to 10 people in the world that the article applied to because of the rare ability that he possessed. Folks went nuts on my Twitter account telling me that the kid should be in school because it's the right thing to do. Well he and his entire starting five from Kentucky were taken in the first round of the NBA draft this past June and sign guaranteed deals of 3 years worth $10 million! Who NEEDS class bruh when you've been genetically blessed and have figured out what to do with it?

Well homeboy...add Gabby Douglas to that list of young folks that don't NEED to go to class either. She just recently signed a $90 million endorsement deal with Kelloggs Cereal. See you live in the world of should be and I live in the world of what is! If your child, as I have explained in multiple Hot Joints this year, is one of the best in the world at what they do. They only NEED to know how to do 3 things bruh! They need to know how to read, write and count! They don't need to waste time in psychology class on someone's college campus if they’ve found their calling. It's called taking advantage of the gifts that God has blessed them with.

What’s crazy to me is that Missy Franklin, the young 17 year old world record holder and 4-time Olympic Gold medalist, wants to swim collegiately in 2013-2014 according to her parents. However, she’s worth over $5 million per year in endorsements right now. There is no guarantee that those deals will still be on the table in two years because I can tell you right now that Gabby has already swooped up some of her bread. So she can go to college if she wants to and we’ll be talking about Gabby’s joints climbing to $200 million. Companies just want to sell products they don’t care who’s face is on the box. Whoever’s hot gets the deal bruh!

What sense would it make for Gabby to go to someone's college in two years and sit in a class that won't enhance her quality of life? Like I always say, college is for those of us that at 18 didn't have the options of making the type of bread that would take care of us for the rest of our lives. Also if your goal was to have a career doing something that requires a degree then in makes sense to go to school. Otherwise, it’s a waste of time bruh. Gabby was born to be a gymnast just like Anthony Davis was born to be a basketball player, like Usain Bolt was born to run, like Michael Phelps was born to swim and like Beyonce' was born to sing and be fine.

I don't care how much boyz tell you that you can be anything that you want to be don't fall for the oakey doke. You can be whatever you were MEANT to be. You've just got to line yourself up with whatever God has for you to do with your life. If whatever you're chasing isn't meant for you to have you want ever run it down and that's real talk!

There are millions of cats chasing dreams out here. If you don’t believe me go to Hollywood and go to 10 different restaurants to eat and every waiter/waitress that you meet is chasing the dream of stardom. The problem is, there are only so many movies, roles and positions available so not everybody that’s dreaming is gonna to wake up famous bruh.

Think about amount of kids that have spent just as much time in the gym as Gabby, Anthony and other professional athletes that didn’t make it? Don't fool yourself into believing that if I put in the work I’ll get it to. It doesn’t work like that because it takes genetics, discipline and favor to become great at what you do.

The word of God says in Jeremiah 1:5 says, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you a prophet to the nations!" If it’s not in the cards for you be great in whatever your chasing you won’t. However, the good news is that you are destined to be great at something because you were put here to make an impact just like Gabby and so many others.

Just stop trying to be like other people and be the best YOU that YOU can be and stop hatin’ on boyz that figure it out early on. Gabby can now spend her life mentoring young gymnasts and other young people by encouraging kids that to be the best that they can be.

She can also continue to ignore all of the haters like all of the clowns that were talking about her hair during the Olympics games. Now she can get her butta whipped every day if she wants to while  bumpin’ that Junior Mafia “Get Money” in the shop real loud bruh.

No Limit

"I gotta make sure this joint is real before I get outta here!"

The word of God says, "A man reaps what he sows" Galatians 6:7. You're only going to get out of it what you're willing to put in to it! How can a man withdraw what he has not put in? Life can only be as good as the effort by which you put forth to live it. Therefore, in order to be great you've got to be willing to push past the point where even the exceptional will give up! There is no room for excuses and even the thought of them can be destructive. Wanting to be successful and preparing to be successful are two completely different things.

Gabby Douglas not only wanted to be successful but she made the necessary preparations to be great and on Thursday she struck GOLD!  She made the home front proud on so many levels by winning the gold medal  in the women's gymnastics all around. She became the third straight American to win it and the first African-American to accomplish that feat. I know that the entire country is so proud of her because she's an American but black folks are rejoicing because she's inspired another generation of little girls to do something that they never thought was possible and that's being an Olympic gold medalist in gymnastics!

Sure, Gabby can't quite comprehend what she's accomplished and that's OK but she'll realize the power of what she's done for us as she gets older. I've got a 9 year old daughter that has been tumbling and doing cart wheels all week because of Gabby. I've been a nervous wreck because she's flipped into furniture and tables this week trying to be the "Flying Squirrel."

Folks outside of the African-American community many times can't comprehend moments like this because the world has always been available to them. Well bruh, it hasn't always been available to us. So when someone breaks through the door of opportunity and wins big then it tells the rest of us that we can do it to.

As college student I watched Doug Williams lead the Washington Redskins to a Super Bowl victory and the Super Bowl MVP in 1988. I can remember it like it was yesterday because my boys and I ran through the dorm fired up because a black man had done what we all knew was possible. He led a team to the NFL Championship when for so long people said that a black man didn't have the capacity to lead. Whether you where a Redskin fan or not you cheered for Doug to win because it was about more than the game.

In 2007 Tony Dungy became the first African-American head coach to win a Super Bowl with the Indianapolis Colts. I live in Indy and my wife and I were celebrating the Super Bowl victory the entire week before the game. People would ask why we were celebrating because there was no guarantee that the Colts would win. We were celebrating because they were going to play the Chicago Bears and they were led by head coach Lovie Smith who was also African-American. I didn't care who won the game because and brother was going to win either way.  It was going to be another opportunity to tear down the limitations on what we could accomplish. Again it has nothing to do with the game bruh.

When I was a kid growing up in Gary, In. which was 98% African-American. The teachers would say, "You can become anything that you want to be if you just put your mind to it." We'd look at one another and say quietly, "No we can't! We can't be the president!" Why would we ever believe that we could because there had never been someone in office that looked like us, talked like us or walked like us?

So when Barack Obama was elected the 44th President of the United States. I saw the ole timers crying because they never dreamed that a black man would ever become the Commander in Chief. My mother cried like a baby because she grew up in the segregated south not being able to use the same restrooms, hotels and restaurants. As a matter of fact, she had to eat on milk crates in the alley and order her food in the kitchen as she would ride the Greyhound to and from college in the 1950's when they would stop for dinner. Whether you agree with Obama's policies or not is irrelevant. It was a day that my children could begin to believe that they too could become president. That was a dream that I never had.

 However, because Barack has become the president I've made sure that everyday that I leave the house I represent the brotherhood well. My suit fits a little better and my tie is just a little tighter and I'm more polished than ever before because I know people are EXPECTING for me to be great now. People are paying more attention to what W.E. B. Dubois called the talented tenth like never before so we can't disappoint them or prove the haters right.

So when little Gabby Douglas won the Gold at the London Olympic Games on August 2nd, 2012 we all rejoiced because our baby girls can now dream of becoming a gymnast and one day winning a gold medal too. Even if they never accomplish what Gabby has done they know that it's something that's not off limits to them. Thanks Gabby along with other greats like Venus and Serena for giving our baby girls the inspiration to be great.

P.S. Now I know y'all didn't think I was gonna bounce without telling you that Gabby's ole girl is from the crib! G.I. is still in the building!! Natalie Hawkins thanks for raising a powerful young lady that all of us can be proud of.
