Grandstandin' (Why it made sense for Mayweather to ban Beadle & Nichols)

"It's my event and I run it! Period!"
Robert Kiyosaki, the well-known investor and self-help guru, once said, “Critics only make you stronger. You have to look at what they are saying as feedback. Sometimes the feedback helps, and other times, it’s just noise that can be a distraction.” Ramana Maharshi, the Indian guru, gave it to us like this, “When there are thoughts, it is distraction: when there are no thoughts, it is meditation.” Then Derek Jeter broke it down for all the homies to understand, “I think when things linger, that’s when they become a distraction. I don’t want any distractions.”

Well playas…Floyd Mayweather didn’t want any distractions either on Saturday night as he prepared for his fight with Manny Pacquiao. So in order to reduce those joints his camp banned both CNN’s Rachel Nichols and ESPN’s Michelle Beadle. What’s crazy to me is that the headlines on Sunday mornin’ read “Floyd Mayweather bans female sports journalists from covering Las Vegas fight after they reported on his domestic abuse past.”

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Floyd didn’t ban all female journalists bruh! His camp just banned those two because Katy Couric interviewed the dun at his gym and had all-access to him! So why did he ban them? Because they both had no intentions of coverin’ the fight. They would simply be there to ask dumb questions that have absolutely nothin’ to do with the preparation of it or the fight itself. I’ve been coverin’ sports for a few years now along with makin’ a livin’ in the field of sales for more than 25 years. I’m one of the best in the world at what I do and in order for me to eat I’ve got to ask intelligent questions. If I don’t, the potential or existing client will walk away and I get nothin’.

What blows my mind about some of these so-called journalists is that they often ask questions that have absolutely no answers to them. Here’s the deal playa, if you ask a question that a boy WILL NOT answer then you’ve asked a question that DOES NOT have an answer. Therefore, you’ve wasted his time. You’ve also killed the opportunity for others to ask intelligent questions because the dun you’re tryin’ to interview is irritated with the previous clown’s question.

Floyd was preparin’ for the biggest fight of his freakin’ career and no way was he gonna sit and answer questions about domestic abuse in the wake of it. So therefore, Michelle and Rachel, who were only goin’ to ask those types of questions, were banned. It makes sense to anybody with a real brain.

The ultimate question is where have cats like this been for the past 14 years since the first of five incidents of domestic abuse occurred? Now don’t get it twisted playboy, I’ve got a wife, a daughter, a mother and a sister! Any dun puttin’ his hands on women should be locked up. However, Floyd’s been locked up and paid his debt to society and has the right to make a livin’ at this point. There are no pendin’ cases and all cats in the media are doin’ now is grandstandin’!

Again, where have these cats been since 2001 and the freakin’ 21 fights he has fought since the first arrest? You weren’t tryin’ to get credentials for those fights and you weren’t jumpin’ up and down to ask him about it then so why now?

Because it’s the biggest fight in history and you wanna be in the joint to put him on the spot and put yourself on a bigger stage. That wasn’t gonna happen because he’s smarter than that playa. This cat didn’t become the richest boxer in the freakin’ world and the highest paid athlete in 2014 bein’ stupid. He saw duns like that gettin’ out of the car. Hustlas keep their heads on a swivel and they see everything. Even the dun tryin’ to slide up on the side of the ride.

It’s the same thing in other sports. It’s like when most NFL teams didn’t want to draft Michael Sam last year because his talent didn’t justify the distraction. He was barely a 7th round pick, barely! If he were a first round talent boyz would have welcomed the questions about his sexually. Nobody cared about him bein’ gay, they just didn’t want to be distracted by the dumb questionin’ that they would get the entire presser on how boyz feel about playin’ with the first openly gay player. He wasn’t good enough to allow that to take over every press conference in trainin’ camp. So boyz backed off. When the questions are not about football they become a distraction. When freakin’ People Magazine or Lifestyle etc. shows up and start askin’ questions that have nothin’ to do with the game then it’s a problem.

To show up and ask Floyd about his problems with domestic abuse right before the biggest fight of his life is stupid and it’s a distraction. That’s like showin’ up before the Super Bowl and askin’ a boy about his problems off of the field, especially when there are no pendin’ cases etc. What’s crazy to me is that Rachel Nichols covers the NBA and is a beast at doin’ her job. I’m in pre and post-game pressers with her all of the time but she isn’t askin’ boyz about their personal lives in those joints, she sticks to hoop. But Floyd knew that CNN wasn’t concerned with boxing so he cut the foolishness before it even got started.

I’ve got no problem with Floyd cuttin’ distractions to a minimum before the biggest fight in boxing history. Ask relevant questions and you can come to the party. Otherwise, you’ve got to watch it at the crib. Stop me when I start lyin’!
