The After School Fight!

"Man you're lucky my mom is standing in the window!"

When you were growing up there was always a kid that would talk trash like he wanted to fight but would never put his book bag down until he got to his front door? He would talk all the way home and as soon as his mom answered the door he'd throw his things down, get loud and say, "Come on right now!" He was notorious for getting into his folk's car and hollering out of the window as they were driving off. The guy really didn't want to fight but he only acted like it when there was a crowd or his mom was standing nearby to protect him!

That's what Boise State has been doing for the past 3 or 4 years. They're a great team don't get me wrong. They'll show up and take of business when they're on the big stage. No doubt about it! However, we keep finding ourselves having the same conversation year after year! They are a good team that will win all of the games on their schedule but like we keep saying their level of competition during the regular season is suspect.

So if you really want to fight or for the sake of this discussion play for the national title, join a BCS conference. We've seen TCU jump to the Big East(2012) and Utah go to the PAC 12 because they were tired of having the same argument year after year. Now people can't hate on them if they run the table. So why with all of the conference realignment talk over the past two years haven't we heard your name in the discussion? I know why, because you're in the back seat of your parents SUV telling us how you'd kicked everybody's butt but your dad is pulling off and saving us all.

There is no way Boise State should be in the top five right now with teams like LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, Clemson and Wisconsin still breathing. These guys are playing ranked opponents weekly and it's only going to get more difficult as the season progresses. Clemson has beaten Auburn, Florida State and Va. Tech in consecutive weeks and we've got Boise State in the discussion? Are you kidding me? Let's not even talk about what LSU and Bama will have to face in the SEC down the stretch! Not to mention the "Battle Royale" that will take place on Nov 5^th in Tuscaloosa when the Tigers roll into town! Oklahoma still has 5 top 25 teams left on the schedule as well in Ok State, Texas, Baylor, Kansas State and Texas A&M. What can I say about Wisconsin who just beat the breaks off of Nebraska on Saturday!!

Why do we keep having this discussion? If Boise State wants to run with the big dogs just join a big time conference and that will end the debate. I don't care which one at this point. I'm just tired of seeing you throw your bags down when your mom answers the door. We all ready know you'll sprint through your schedule unbeaten, play in a BCS bowl and you'll probably win it because you'll be injury free because of the lack of competition you've seen all season. I'm sorry, you did play Georgia in week one but know all you're doing is hang gliding in a tail wind the rest of the way.

There should be a rule that forces teams to join a BCS conference once you start screaming out of the back seat of your folk's car. If you're going to do that every year you're like the kid that cried wolf. It won't be long before all of the voters and media that have been riding with you get off of the Bronco Bandwagon. Because if everybody else has to fight after school then you should be forced put your  backpack down and get it in too.
