Real G's & Loyalty (The REAL reason why Lance Stephenson shouldn'tre-sign with the Pacers)

"I don't know what I'm gonna do homie!"
Zig Ziglar, the famous sales guru, once said, “The foundation stones for a balanced success are honesty, character, integrity, faith, love and loyalty.” Colin Powell said it this way, “Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence.” Then George William Curtis, the 19th century American writer, poured out a ‘lil liquor for all the dead homies and said, “A man’s country is not a certain area of land, of mountains, rivers and woods, but it is a principle and patriotism is loyalty to that principle.”

A man’s hood and his team are bound by the same principles and patriotism playboy! So for all of the discussion as to whether the Indiana Pacers would want Lance Stephenson back or not; the real question is whether ole boy would want to even come back. That’s real talk playboy!

Lance is a REAL cat from a REAL hood just like me! Therefore, he’s sittin’ in the cut watchin’ all of these boyz around him throw him under the bus. His teammates have shown him NO loyalty over the past week. His head coach has shown him no loyalty. His team president, Larry Bird, has shown him no loyalty either. Only in the press conference on Monday when he said that they would want Lance back.

Let's keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Lance is the same cat that was legitimately an All-Star this year that got snubbed. He led the league in triple doubles and helped carry this team with all of his energy to 56 wins and the No. 1 seed in the East. Don't act like he didn't.

On some real talk, he was the only reason boyz had a Game 6 situation in the Eastern Cobference Finals because he did in fact get into LeBron's head in Game 5. LeBron will never admit it but the real G's out here saw it bruh. So don't act like boyz in these streets don't know who Lance already is. He's the cat that every real G wants in the car with him when it goes down playboy!

The way the Pacers treated him over the past week is like a boy allowin’ the streets to crucify his homeboy’s reputation. Everywhere he goes he not only agrees with the enemy but he pours gasoline on the fire too. Now that everything has calmed down he wants his boy to forget what was said and the role that his homies played in destroyin’ his reputation to and it ain't gonna happen!

Whether you realize it or not playa, the ghetto is bound in clicks, sets and factions. In order to survive in it you’ve got to be bound and loyal to one of them. That’s why you see duns that grew up in the ghetto havin' strong relationships with boyz that they came up with. It’s because they’ve been through the war (literally) with them and it hasn’t always been good.

Don’t think for one minute that nobody ever tripped or got out of pocket durin’ the course of that relationship. Somebody, at some point or another put boyz in a bad situation and got cussed out for it or maybe even got beat down by the fellas for it. But guess what homie, nobody outside of the crew ever knew about it. Why? Because that’s loyalty!

Here’s my diehard Pacers fan grew up in the suburbs or rural America where nobody is loyal to anybody because you don’t NEED a crew just to make it home safely at night. “Jay you’re an idiot! Lance was dead wrong for blowin’ in LeBron’s ear and then he kept talkin’ and actin’ out durin’ the series with the Heat. He cost the team big time.”

Put ya ears on pimpin’ because I’m about to give you a lesson in ghetto theology! Did you ever hear a mumblin’ word out of Jordan, Pippen, Phil and the rest of the Chicago Bulls when Dennis Rodman literally kicked that cameraman’s package off? Which incident was worse? Rodman assaultin’ some dun that wasn’t even in the game or Lance blowin’ in Lebron’s ear or goin’ into the Heat’s huddle? Talk to me playboy?

Did you ever hear Phil, Kobe or the Lakers talkin’ crazy about Ron Artest/Metta World Peace for cold cockin’ James Harden in the back of the head? Which was worse? A boy cold cockin’ a dun, blowin’ in Lebron’s ear or goin’ into a huddle?

Here’s the difference between the Bulls, the Lakers and the Pacers my dude. Both the Bulls and the freakin’ Lakers went on to win championships. Why? Because boyz understood the code of the ghetto! Loyalty!!! That same code is mandatory in a locker room! Even though those duns were trippin’ they needed them in order to win. So you can’t expect to move forward with a boy that grew up understandin’ the freakin’ rules and you keep violatin’ them!

The darn media doesn’t dictate what is supposed to be said and how a boy should feel about his teammate! And that’s the edited version. Paul George got up on the podium and let some dun in the media push him into throwin’ his teammate under the bus. When the question was asked “Would you like to play with Lance next year?” Ole boy should have said, “Lance is probably the most important person on this team because of his production and his energy. I would be crazy not to want to play with him.” Instead he allowed some dun that has never stepped one foot into the ghetto dictate his answer and that was weak. And as a result of that answer, if they’re able to sign Lance, they’ve got 2014-2015 beef already and you can't win championships with beef in the locker room. So what now? We're into 2015-2016 before we can even talk about winnin' anything playa!

How do I know that the media cat didn’t grow up with the same rules that I grew up with? Because if he had, he never would have asked him the freakin’ question homeboy. Because you never ask questions that don’t have answers to them. Under normal ghetto rules that question doesn’t have an answer to it but Paul George answered it anyway.

Why do you think that Greg Popovich handles these cat’s questions the way he does? Because he’s from my hood, Gary, In., playboy and he understands the rules of engagement. If you ask him a question that doesn’t have an answer to it he’s not gonna answer it.

For those reasons alone boyz better stop takin’ Lance for granted because he’s a FREE AGENT! That means that he doesn’t have to sign with the Pacers. He can go wherever he wants to go. On some real talk, I wouldn’t want to play with these cats. Because outside of David West nobody else is gonna ride or die with him.

Lance was the only dun in that locker room that didn’t bow down to LeBron and kiss his sandals. Paul George is supposed to be an All-Star in this league and he pulls the ultimate broad move on the podium durin’ the Heat series.

What kind of competitor tells a boy that LeBron just imposed his will on us? Yeah pimpin’, we saw him do it but you can’t say it because at that point you’re submittin’ and nobody can respect that. Boyz in barber shops in every hood in America can respect Lance because he stood up to that Philistine and gave him his best shot. Win or lose I’m ridin’ with him because he’s got heart.

What Lance needs is a coach and team that can handle him. The Pacers aren’t that. Gerald Green couldn’t get off of the bench in Indy and now he’s ballin’ in Phoenix averagin’ 15 per game. Miles Plumblee is puttin’ in work in Phoenix too averagin’ 8 points and 8 rebounds per game. Why? Because the Suns knew how to handle them. Miles would have been an asset this year for the Pacers wouldn’t he?

And don't forget about how D.J. Augustine is ballin' up in the Chi right now bruh. Just think of what Lance could do playin' with a bunch of real G's like the Bulls! Lance with Joakim, D. Rose, Jimmy Butler,Taj Gibson etc? And they've got the type of coach that could handle him too. Now I'm completely being facetious because I don't know what their roster situation looks like but you get my point. Lance needs to ride with some real cats that understand the rules of the streets. Loyalty!!!

The Pacers can act a fool if they want to but Lance is gonna get paid regardless. But if I was his homeboy/confidant/wardie/roaddawg/agent I’m tellin’ him to look elsewhere because these cats aren’t “ride or die” and you can’t get to the next level with boyz that are afraid of that Philistine.

Yeah, I know that as long as LeBron is in his prime and he’s got shooters around him it’s a wrap but you at least gotta show up and fight him and other than D. West nobody is willin’ to do that.

Everybody is gettin' a pass around this piece and they're all guilty! Everyone of them has ink on their hands from pullin' the freakin' fire alarm and Lance is the only one takin' on the "Heat" literally.

So Lance, the hood gives you permission to move on bruh because a real G can’t thrive where there is no loyalty! It’s been good but I’m not gonna tell you to stay and play with these cats if I wouldn’t advise my own son to do the same. Stop me when I start lyin’!

Holla At Ya Boy!

  1. Jay, I heard all this from the master, this morning. It was great dialogue. You make a 100 good points, but I won't agree with your conclusion. If Pacer's Authority, whoever that is, from Larry Bird on down, reads your point of view, and takes it to heart, I hope there is time to rebuild some bridges, and to set the ship on a better course....based on Loyalty, Privacy, Maturity, and strong Teammate Chemistry.
The young men on this team (this excludes David West, the good old dog) have not had the proper, private, quiet, firm teaching, preaching, and RULES laid down.
I hope Larry's staff is reading your stuff, and scrambling to do some "damage control" in order to maintain the integrity of a good core of ball players.
