"It's cool bruh! That's your loss!" |
Well playboy, the Golden State Warriors obviously didn’t set realistic goals for themselves when they decided to fire Mark Jackson on Tuesday. Now check this out bruh, this is the same organization that hasn’t made the playoffs in consecutive seasons since the 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons. They had only made the playoffs once in 17 years before hiring ole boy.
In three years this dun has taken them to the playoffs twice. He goes 23-43 in his first season which was the NBA lockout year. In year two he goes 47-35 and makes it to the second round. Then he goes 51-31, loses in the first round in seven games and gets fired? Wheredeydodatat?
What blew me away was that the owner, Joe Lacob, compared the decision to fire him to his work as a venture capitalist. In so many words he said that companies move in stages and different types of CEO’s are needed at different times in the growth of the company. Jackson was cool at certain stages but now it’s time to win an NBA championship so we need a different type of cat to accomplish that! What?
Just go on and say ole boy rubbed me the wrong way and I didn't like him so I fired him. It's cool bruh! You own the joint, you can do whatever you want. Just don't lie to boyz out here because you sound fake.
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! For the sake of argument we'll ride with the "We wanna take this to another level" type joint and he doesn't fit the model. That all may sound good in the traditional business world but this is the NBA playa! There are only so many teams that are EVER going to win an NBA championship. The only cats that are going to win titles are those teams that can get multiple superstars on the roster at the same time and Golden State isn’t one of them.
Do you realize that more than fifty percent of all NBA titles have been won by two teams? The Boston Celtics have won 17 and the Los Angeles Lakers have won 16! There is a reason for that pimpin’! Over the years they’ve had great ownership and they’ve had multiple superstars on the rosters when they’ve won those titles. On some real talk, name me one player in NBA history that has ever won a title without having another superstar? I’ll wait!!
Golden State is Golden State bruh! Nobody in their right mind is going to play in Golden State by choice. Steph Curry has two years left on his contract and he's gonna be on the first thing smoking to get out of the Bay Area. These young thunder cats wanna play in major markets and be in the mix.
So places like Boston, LA, Chicago, Miami and Houston are ideal for young, rich, urban superstars. New York would be the perfect place but James Dolan is probably one of the three worst owners in professional sports! They're in the biggest media market in the world and the Knicks haven't won a title since 1973! SMH
This is a real conversation playboy! Young black athletes want to be in big cities because there’s more to do. San Antonio is the only place that’s been able to win without being a major market because they were smart enough to take advantage of a weird dynamic.
They drafted David Robinson who was graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy to play in a military town. There are two Air Force bases and two Army bases there. He was right at home. Then they drafted Tim Duncan who from the freakin’ Virgin Islands! So San Antonio was a big deal to him. Over the years they’ve added foreign players not brothers from urban America that wouldn’t want to stay in San Antonio! So they completely get it. But nobody is going to Golden State to play.
So firing Mark Jackson just set them back 20 years. At least Mark was gonna have them in the playoffs every year and they would sell crazy tickets, ads space and concessions. The Clippers are worth $1 billion dollars today and they haven’t won jack because even though Donald Sterling was a racist idiot he wasn’t stupid when it came to winning. And winning for him was gettin’ that money.
If Golden State were smart they would have ridden that pony until it fell over and died bruh.
Do you really think that KD is gonna play is entire career in OKC? Sure, they’ve got multiple superstars right now but as soon as their contracts expire they’re in the wind unless they can win a title before then. And everybody that believes that that’s going to happen stand on your head especially has long as that Philistine is in Miami.
Have you ever been to OKC bruh? Ain’t nothin’ in Oklahoma City but Cowboys and Indians literally! I know because I was a season ticket holder for Oklahoma Sooners football for 14 years and didn’t miss a game bruh. When I first started flying into OKC I would ask the dun at the rental car joint what the rap station was and his reply was, “Man they only play rap music on Sundays from 1 to 4.”
Now they’ve got a hip hop station but you’re tellin’ me that a young rich brother from urban America is gonna voluntarily stay there without having already won a title. It’s not gonna happen! Heck Russell Westbrook is from LA! And that’s the edited version. They gotta drive two hours to Dallas to really get it in!
So most cats that own these teams across all sports more often than not understand that it’s a business and winning is about making money not winning championships. Only so many duns will ever have an opportunity to win a title because of the dynamics at play. But everybody can get paid just ask the Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys and the LA Clippers.
They aren’t winning anything on the field but they’re killin’ boyz in revenues. Why? Because they understand exactly who and what they are and Golden State doesn’t. Being realistic will always keep you from making a fool of yourself bruh. Stop me when I start lyin’!
Holla At Ya Boy!
