Flip Flopping The Money!

Hummm...that ain't a bad idea bruh!
Like I said a couple of days ago in my article entitled “Locked & Loaded” the players have all of the leverage in the current NBA lockout because they can simply go overseas and play. There's nothing holding them back. According to Deron Williams he believes that I'm not crazy by saying it either.

"If the proposal (the owners) have, if that's what they're sticking with and that's what they want, then I think it would be hard for a lot of guys to come back to the NBA," Williams said Friday in an interview at a private golf resort in San Diego.

Williams said any collective bargaining agreement that would leave stars such as Kobe Bryant making only $11 million a year! One of the biggest stars in the game! See the owners have proposed cutting players' salaries by roughly a third and that could open the door for an unprecedented exodus to Europe.

"(Kobe) could go make more money overseas, I guarantee you." said Williams, who has a one-year, $5 million deal with Besiktas. "If (European teams) knew he could be there for a full season, or they knew I could be there for a full season, or they knew LeBron James could be there for a full season, they'll pay more money, of course."

Those that think that there is no possibly of players leaving the NBA, are crazy. I heard a guy saying that there aren't enough spots available for all of the NBA guys to come over. Are you mad? Just about every player in the league could go over there. They'd just fire the existing players on those rosters in Europe and play ball with NBA players. The money will follow. They can't pay the current guys like the NBA because they don't have the fan base.

If everyone just packed up and went to Europe they'd immediately have the fans to support the salaries just like they would here. The European teams would then be able to sign lucrative TV deals with not only the companies in Europe but also in the United States.

Don't think for one minute that ESPN The World Wide Leader In Sports won't be the first in line with a check. Then the other companies will be right behind them with all of our favorite analysts and columnists in tow ready do the same thing they've always done.

You have to realize that we live in a social media age and everything is instantly up to date. With all of that happening, the fans wouldn't miss a beat. The average fan never goes to a game anyway. So it wouldn't make a bit of difference if the game was in L.A. or Germany!

The owner's better recognize that they don't have the power that they once had. It’s time to wise up and give these players whatever they ask for and throw in some stuff. Otherwise, they'll be sitting on the curb looking stupid. Can you imagine the frenzy that would take place in Europe if guys like Kobe, Lebron, D. Rose and D. Wade showed up. It would be like the Beatles landing in the U.S. years ago.

Guys would make more money over there because it would be all brand new to the people in Europe. They would pay through the nose to see our players every night. Then the NBA would be stuck with the guys that were forced to go to Europe to play in the first place. Not only would we lose the players but we'd lose the revenue from the taxes that those players paid on their salaries. Also remember all of the people employed as a result of the NBA playing in the U.S.. That will definitely have a negative effect the American economy and you couldn't blame that one on Obama!

  1. Yo Jay not so sure you got my comments since one of those verification things didnt come up so I will post it one more time. As we discussed on 7/30 you pointed out a different perspective in that the players really have the juice in this NBA thing. You are right if I am Koby or Shebron or any of the other stars I can take my ball and go anywhere and play and TNT, ESPN, ABC, etc will follow. BUT JAY, basketball aint tennis boxing or golf. It is a team sport. You got to have 4 more on the court plus somebody to play against. Your stars are only 5% of the league, 95% of the league are role players, etc, they dont have that kind of juice, owners know that hence leverage on their side, go to the play grounds and gyms in the hoods and suburbs and ask who would take 50k a year to play some ball and see how many hands go up. Thats more than most teachers make a year. There is my bargain price pool thats a far cry from 6 to 7 figure contracts. So as a owner now is my chance to rewrite cause I know that 95% of my work force anit got no juice cause they cant go anywhere and legally make what I pay them minimally. The owners have the juice the players will not stay united. This is just like our present day society-the role players are the middle class and poor, the Allstars- the rich, The owners-GOP, David Stern-speaker of the house. Doesnt it always seam as though the middleclass although they represent 95% just take what is handed to them, the rich are going to always be rich because the real controlling government bodies are going to make sure it stays that way' but they cant stay rich if I dont pass them the ball, or rebound when they miss or if I just dont make up the numbers they need to have on the court to play the game. Who has got the juice Jay I'll take that 50k cause I know some one else will. It anit about Shebron or Koby they are going to get theirs, Stern is looking at that 95% that is control and with control is power. Slave Days 101 rules of society remain the same.
