Swamp Cookin' With Too Many Chefs!

Weis is the new Gator Offensive Coordinator.
 "I promise I won't  try to takeover!"
The University of Florida hired Texas Defensive Coordinator, Will Muschamp, to lead the mighty Gators into the next great phase of Florida football in Gainesville. The Old Ball Coach, Steve Spurier, put the South Eastern Conference school on the map when he won the Heisman Trophy in 1966 as their star quarterback.
He later returned to his Alma Mata as the head coach during the 1990 season and lead the Gators to 6 SEC titles and the 1996 National Championship.

Then, the now legendary Urban Myer took over the business at the Swamp and very quickly took the Gators to a level that the Florida fans had never seen before. Myer was able to produce two national championship teams(2006 and 2008) and a Heisman Trophy winner in Tim Tebow in just six seasons.

Now it's Will's turn to ride the Gator but can he handle the bite. He's already made a huge mistake within his first few weeks on the job. He hired Charlie Weis as his offensive coordinator. Is Charlie a great coach? Sure he is. Is he one of the best play callers in football, college or pro? Of course he is. He is the former head coach of the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, one of the most beloved programs of all-time. He also won three Super Bowls as the offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots. This guy even has the Kansas City Chiefs rolling into the playoffs this year with one of the most productive offenses in the NFL. So what's the problem with the hire?

Everything that I just mentioned makes it the wrong hire. Will Muschamp has never been a head coach before. Although, he was the head coach in waiting at Texas making more than $900,000 per year. He was the highest paid assistant coach in the country, but he wasn't the head honcho.

This is his first rodeo and bringing someone in with the resume of Charlie Wies is a major mistake. It's like inviting your mother-n-law, who is an excellent cook, over for Christmas dinner the first time you've ever prepared the meal. How long will she sit there before she tries to take over?

Weis will have an opinion about everything because Muschamp is a rookie and he's going to make some mistakes in the process. He doesn't need that type of strong  personality on his very first staff. I wonder what the over/under is on how long that relationship will last? Good Luck with that. What's your opinion?

  1. Agreed! He needs to stay at the pro level. Not like he's a great recruiter! 4 SB Rings are great but if you're a jerk! Nobody wants to come play for you. 2cents.
