The Breaching of a Dam

Kansas City Chief Jovan Belcher (July 24, 1987- December 1,  2012)
There is a thin line between sanity and insanity. It’s so thin that many times we don’t even recognize that we’ve either crossed it or that we’re standing right on top of it. Growing up in the hood we would always say that sometimes things can just pop off. However, it takes a certain amount of maturity and wisdom to see the joint and walk away before it does pop.

On Saturday morning things popped off before Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher realized it. In a heated argument with his girl, Kassandra Perkins the mother of his three month old daughter, the joint simply exploded. Belcher shot and killed her and then drove to the Chiefs training facility and pulled the trigger on himself in front of head coach Romeo Crennel and general manager Scott Pioli.

In the book of Proverbs 17:14 it says, “Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam, so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.” Sometimes the argument goes way too far and things are said that are more than regrettable and boyz end up stepping across that thin line we just talked about!

All of the reports indicate that ole boy was a good dude but even good people can make bad decisions. I know a lot of good dudes in jail or dead because they simply weren’t paying attention to that line. We don’t know what was said or what made him snap but apparently it was enough to take this cat over the top and that’s why just having a gun can be dangerous for the wrong cats. Crossing the line with access to one is even worse.

I know that this cat didn’t plan to shoot his girl but that dam breached before he even realized it. Without the gun it would have just gone down as just a big fight with a whole bunch of cursing, shoving and lying etc. It doesn't make it right but they both would still be alive and they could move on either together or seperately. Now he’s in a panic thinking about what he just did and how that affects everybody. Insanity is racing 100 mph with no brakes at this point bruh! The joint popped off before he knew it and now it’s all on top of him like an NFL pass rush and he never thought to step up in the pocket.

During happier times
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! I’m not justifying this foolishness at all because it’s tragic to say the least. I’m just explaining to folks that sometimes things can get way out of hand before boyz realize it and more irresponsible, yet immature, cats have guns than you think! There are millions of duns rotting in prisons or stretched out in grave yards right now because they simply had a gun when the joint popped off. That’s why you can’t afford to get into heated debates or arguments with anybody because things can go south real quick and unfortunately it did. A young immature heated cat with a gun is always lethal bruh!

Apparently, they got into it about her coming in late from a concert etc. That joint exploded and here we are. I tell these young cats all of the time, “Why deal with married man issues while you’re single?” My point is this, stop moving in together just because you say that’s your girl! If they weren’t living together neither one would be necessarily obligated to a curfew, restrictions etc. That’s the advantage of being single bruh! You explore until you find what you eventually want to settle down with. If you're single then be single. Don't try to obligate yourself to something that you aren't mature enough to handle. This is grown man business bruh!

No one deserves to die at the hands of someone else. Only God has the authority to make those decisions. Unfortunately, when the dam breaks the cat holding the gun drowns and takes others with him. We gotta learn how to just walk away before the joint pops!

My deepest condolences go out to both family's. May God comfort you during this time of bereavement and may God continue to bless you.
