REAL Life

Dallas Cowboy Josh Brent is dealing with REAL life right now!

Plato once said, “A good decision is based on knowledge and not on numbers. Napoleon Bonaparte was thought provoking when he said, “Nothing is more difficult, and therefore more precious, than to be able to decide.” However, Jethro the neighborhood jick always kept it real when he would say, “Good decisions come from experience and experience comes from bad decisions.”

Well Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent made a decision on Saturday morning that cost his college (Illinois) and professional teammate Jerry Brown Jr. his life. According to Irving police, Brent was traveling at a high rate of speed while intoxicated on a State Highway 114 service road when he hit the curb flipping the joint over killing Brown in the process.

When I read the story what blew me away was the amount of people that were making ignorant comments like, “Pro athletes live a privileged life, they make way too much money and they aren’t responsible enough to handle it. So this is what you get.” What? Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! I know broke cats that drive drunk too. This isn’t a pro athlete problem homeboy, it’s a societal problem. People kill me being so jealous of pro athletes that they can’t stop for a minute and just say, “Man, that’s a sad situation for both families. I’m going to keep them in my prayers.” Sometimes when things happen that’s all that you need to say.

Jerry Brown Jr. died in the accident
One cat is dead and the other is facing a felony intoxication manslaughter charge for killing his homie and will probably spend the next 20 years in the pen. It’s sad all the way around but all folks can say is pro athletes make too much money and this is what you get when you pay them like that? I’m just glad that God is God all by himself and isn’t asking for any help from any of these duns out here. Boyz are acting like they’ve never made a bad decision in their lives that could have cost them or their friends their lives. It didn’t have to be on some drinking and driving tip either. It could have been being in the wrong place at the wrong time or getting into it with some cats that could have started shooting or anything.  In John 8:7 the good Lord said, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.”  I’m just on some real talk right now! You feeling me?

I’m not a drinker at all bruh. The strongest thing you’re ever going to see Ya Boy drinking is a Diet Coke but I realize that there are a lot of people that do drink socially and end up driving to the crib after the party is over. Most are legally drunk at the time and have been doing it for years. Its sad situations like this that I hope would open folks eyes to what can happen when you do drink and drive.

Don’t act like your life is perfect and look down on this cat because I bet he feels bad enough for killing his boy but he made the decision to drive drunk and now he’s got to live with it. He’s gonna spend the rest of his life wishing that he would have called a dun like me to drive he and his partner to the crib but he didn’t. That’s REAL life and REAL life has REAL consequences! Don’t jump in the ride and think you can do it because life can always happen to you too!

Holla At Ya Boy!

  1. It's a shame that folks want to pin bad things only on celebrities and atheletes because these types of tragedies happen all to often to folks you never heard of. What the dude did was dumb and he'll be paying for it living with the nightmare of what happened for ever.
