C'mon Man! Stealing?

"My ole' girl is gonna be mad as hell"
Reds pitcher Mike Leake was arrested on a shoplifting charge at a downtown department store Monday, accused of trying to steal six shirts with a total value of $59.88. The 23-year-old starter was booked at the Hamilton County Justice Center on a first-degree misdemeanor charge of shoplifting. It carries a maximum of 180 days in jail. He was arrested about two hours before Cincinnati pitchers were expected at Great American Ball Park to take batting practice before the final game of a series against Pittsburgh. Leake started and got the victory in an 11-2 win over the Pirates on Saturday. C'mon man!
This guy is a major league baseball player running around downtown stealing, before the game! What's up with that? I mean, let's keep it real some groupie working at the store would have given him the shirts if he could as they say "talk up on it". It doesn't matter how much money some people make they're going to do the wrong thing just because. Take a look at Lindsay Lohan for instance, stealing a $2,500 necklace when she clearly has the money to pay for it.

I'll tell you what, if Mike's mother is anything like my mother he'll want to spend the night at Great American Ball Park. I know he doesn't want to go home and face that music. I can hear is family now, "Are you kidding me?" Stealing? His dad wants to just pull his belt off right at the ball park and give him some old school action, belt on bare bottom for that one.

How embarrassing was that situation for the family and the organization. He obviously doesn't care because he was shoplifting. My mother-n-law says it best, "if you end you up in jail, you wanted to be there because you already know what it takes to go and I don't visit criminals."

This guy is going to make $425,000 for the 2011 season according to USA Today. Now tell me how that translates into stealing downtown like a petty thief? Somewhere along the line he never got it just like Lindsay Lohan. Either he wasn't taught as a child or he just didn't pay attention. Either way he needs to pay the maximum penalty for being an idiot if nothing else. Why would he want to steal six shirts that total $59.88?

Where was he shopping? Big Lots? How do you find six shirts that total $59.88 when you're making the type of money he's making. I say we don't even hold a trial. Just bend him over and kick him square in the pants for the maximum 180 day sentence while wearing all six shirts at the same time after they've been put in the dryer. Hopefully, he would have learned a lesson from all of this and at least get better quality shirts and pay for them. Idiot!!!

  1. Jay, I wondered the same thing about the shirts--where is he shopping at? Could be T-shirts I suppose. This shows some incredibly bad judgment. Shoplifting can be a thrill seeking, adrenaline charging addiction like other activities. He better get a handle on this pretty quickly. I learned that lesson in Kindergarten.
